To meet with our sister group Role-On from the Wirrall.

The details of this trip have not yet been finalised but it is hoped many of you will come along.  Our group owes it’s birth to this group.

HISTORY OF OUR INVOLVEMENT WITH ROLE-ON.

Chris was on a weekend away (on an Ellen Smith familiarisation weekend) and was introduced to John and Brenda who run the Role-On group for former Carers in the Wirrall,, being former Cares themselves.  Chris, whose background includes running Carers groups in Bury and Bolton quickly realised that Bury did not offer this further support once the Caring role was finished.  She spoke to Andy, at Bury Age UK at Jubilee Centre to ask for help and he detailed the proposals of setting up a similar group locally in a newsletter. Hence Muriel, Gwen and Janet became involved. With the help of Bury VCFA it was recognised that a constitution* would be needed before a bank account before applying for grants etc.  And so the group began.  John and Brenda (from Role-On) were very supportive and came along to Jubilee Centre for the first meeting. Chris and Muriel and one other also visited the Wirrall.

*NB Because of this constitution we have to hold yearly AGMs.
